The Weird Potty-Training Book

wpid-20140524_115810.jpgYesterday we had our first garage sale since we moved into our new house.  We are planning to make it an annual event that involves the entire block, with face-painting, hotdog vending etc.  It is not there yet but many of the neighbors showed interest so we will see…

While Amie and I manned the tables, the boys managed a cookies and drinks stand and did pretty well considering their little next-door buddies were a welcome distraction.  At least to  them.  Being kids, they took delight in rummaging through the kids’ stuff that we had for sale and came up with a book called ‘Once Upon A Potty’.  It was a book we read  when we were potty-training our boys.

One of the neighbors’ boys brought it to me. “Look! Read this! Hahaha! This book is weird.”  Well looking at it then, it did seem a bit weird.  The book described a boy named Joshua’s potty training.  The writer, Alona Frankel first went into detail about the boy’s body parts and what they were for.  For his bum, she showed him with his naked butt in the air.  “A bottom for sitting and a little hole for making poo-poo’.  And I guess that’s where the kids saw the weird humor.  ‘A hole in your butt for making poo-poo’.  Can she say that?

I am surprised no one took offense to that, especially with all the political correctness going on.  Anyway, we did not-too-bad on the garage sale and we did sell the poo poo book.
